Congratulations to Linda Hubalek Winner of Susan Baruch's new audiobook "Paternity" Giveaway! You can learn more about Linda at her website: http://www.LindaHubalek.com Many thanks to everyone who entered! This was my first experience with hosting a giveaway. It's not as easy as it looks! But Ms. Baruch and I wanted to promote our new audiobook, and I had first decided to do a giveaway on Facebook, but found that their frequently changing giveaway rules were a little intimidating. Then I thought, "I have a blog . . . and I can use it."
The first step was finding a good service. Since I was in unfamiliar territory, I wanted to start simple. I chose Rafflecopter, which was easy to set up and easy to close out. It kept tack of all entries, told me when it was over, and gave me the tools to randomly select the winner. I promoted, promoted, promoted by posting multiple entries on Facebook, tweeting, posting on book blogging and interest sites, and sending out email blasts. I also tried a few sweepstakes sites (which list all sorts of giveaways and contests and sends emails to their subscribers). I didn't get a ton of entries, but I think it was a respectable number, and I got a lot of blog and Facebook hits. When the giveaway ended, I went to my giveaway's Rafflecopter site to select a winner. I don't know whether it was my poor sense of timing (right before the holidays), extremely tough spam filters, or lack of interest, but my first winner didn't respond within the time limit (48 hours) to claim the prize, so I went back to Rafflecopter to select another random winner. Unfortunately, that person also failed to respond within the 48 hours and I had to select a third random winner. I was so happy when Linda replied within a few hours hours. I really did want to give this book away!!!!! So, all in all, I think I learned a lot from this experience, and will definitely be doing it again in the future. Thank you to all of you who entered and most of all to Susan Baruch for providing the prize!
